History of slot machine

By admin

At the beginning, the history of the slot machine was deliberated by Sittman and Pitt in New York in the year1891. They designed the machine with five drums with the intention of displaying the poker hands. The machine does not contain any payback mechanism and so it only offered some drinks as prizes. The online slots did not come into picture for an additional century.

The first slot was made by Charles Fey at his basement level of development. There were no pervasive successes for the machine until it was put in the hotel named Flamingo Hilton in Las Vegas. Charles Fey’s slot machine had an iron cast of 100 pounds and there were no fruit symbols associated with the slots, which was completely different from the machines which we have today. Instead of having the symbols, his machines had horseshoes, stars, and some playing card suits (in spade and diamond shapes). His establishment was later on possessed by his grandchildren, as they preserve the legacy of Charles Fey in the slot machine’s history.

After Liberty Bell, Fey made his next slot machine and named it as Operator Bell. This slot machine has become the standard in the aesthetics of slot machines. He updated the machine with the fruit symbol and thus the history of the slot machine distorted forever. A reputed Bell-Fruit Gum Company had stolen the machine from Charles Fey and made the machine to dispense gums for each and every pull for masking the slot machines nature. And that was an attempt made by the company to market their gum and thus the BAR symbol comes into picture.
